Here are some of my favorite pins on the week!

I am completely in love with these!

I love the grey and the daisies are too sweet to finish it off!

I love this color palette! The browns and greens were our wedding colors, and I just can't resist a lovely blue! I could even appreciate a little of the above yellow splashed in...

Well, hello there, cutie pie!

Lombard Street, San Francisco

Lombard Street, also known as the World's "Crookedest" Street, was definitely a must-see while were in San Francisco!

The street was made this way to ensure drivers honored the 5 MPH speed limit necessary since the street is built on such a steep hill. Apparently, it used to be a two-way, two-lane road... but I bet that was dangerous!!

After an amazing breakfast at Cafe Divine, we decided to walk on over to see this landmark. Yes, it was over a mile walk, but we were really walking everywhere this trip (we walked almost a mile to breakfast already), and I figured it was a good opportunity to walk off my delicious (yet not-so-healthy) breakfast.

Whew. I had NO idea what we were in for! I knew San Francisco was hilly, I just didn't imagine the entire walk there would be at a 30-35 degree incline.

Even the young and healthy 8th-grader-to-be that we were with was out of breath after our long trek to the Crookedest street. Plus, I had also put in a workout in the fitness center that morning. By the time we trekked it back to the hotel, my calf muscles were quivering. They continued to twitch all afternoon long and were sore for 3 days! You'd think after almost 5 weeks with the trainer that my little legs would have been able to handle it better!!

The landscaping on Lombard street was beyond gorgeous, and all the flowers were so fragrant!!

It really was such a neat place to visit, but I can't imagine having to live on this street! There were several houses whose driveways back up directly onto this maze... what a mess! Between tourists and the crooked downhill drive, it must be a real headache getting out of the garage some days!

We also visited Alcatraz on this same day, but it was SO awesome it deserves its own post! I will be back with more on our San Francisco trip soon!

30 before 30

I mentioned here that I was working on my "30 things to do before 30" list... and I have finally finished it! I turned 27 in May, and here is a list of 30 things I hope to accomplish in the next 3 years! What ever happened to predictability?

...the milkman, the paperboy, and evening TV?
You miss your old familiar friends waiting just around the bend....

{sing with me now!}

Everywhere you look (everywhere)
There's a heart (there's a heart)
and a hand to hold on to.
Everywhere you look (everywhere)
there's a face of somebody who needs you.

When you're lost out there and you're all alone
A light is waiting to carry you home
Everywhere you look.

----------------------------------------------

If you recognized that as the theme song from Full House, you rock. If you couldn't resist the urge to sing along, you are even cooler!! :)

Our trip to San Francisco has been AMAZING so far! We've done so much and I've taken SO many pictures that I will have to share all the fun over several posts!

On our first day here, we decided to take a bus tour of the city so we could get an idea of a few places we wanted to visit. It was SO neat riding around the city on top of a double-decker bus and taking pictures!

One of the places we got to see were the famous "Painted Ladies".

See the yellow one in the middle? That's the one they used in the intro to Full House (hence the theme song at the beginning of this post)! Can you see the guy in the bottom left corner? He was moving equipment... they were filming a movie in the middle of the park! :)

The Victorian architecture was so beautiful! You just don't see houses like this anymore!

We also got to see the Capitol Building. The gold you see on it is actual 23 karat gold!

I found this next building absolutely fascinating... it's the "greenest" building in the city!

There's no air conditioning, but it's not needed thanks to the funny-looking solar panels on the sides! Those 3 openings in the middle are elevators... they only stop every three floors to save on energy!!

We ended our day by seeing a Giants baseball game at AT&T Park! They were playing the San Diego Padres, and the rivalry was apparent! We saw quite a few drunk and un-orderly fans yelling at each other... no fights, but it was close!! I couldn't believe the weather... 55 and windy, making it feel like 50 degrees! I was wearing a fleece sweater... in JULY! :) The game went 14 innings (wow), but the Giants won!

There's so much more to share, but I will stop there for now (Hubby is done with business for the day, so we are off for more fun!) More to come... I can't wait to share about our visit to the "Crookedest Street" and Alcatraz!!

July 4th Weekend Fun!

Enjoy this fireworks photo that I snagged from Pinterest, because it's the only quality one you're gonna get! I was a major failure at getting pictures of our fireworks extravaganza. Who can blame me? It's WAY much more fun to help set off the fireworks than to stand around with a camera.

Friday night, we began my honey's birthday weekend by having dinner at one of our favorite local Mexican places in downtown Carrollton. I tried something new - the "light enchiladas" - and they were AMAZING! Chicken and spinach enchiladas in a poblano cream sauce, served with cilantro lime rice. YUM! Agave Azul Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar is a MUST try if you live in the North Dallas area!

We started off our real July 4th/Hubby's birthday celebration by spending Saturday at the pool with D's family. Apparently all of us ladies shop for our pool/beach necessities at the same store... there were 4 of us with the exact same pool bag in different colors!

D also got a lovely ukulele for his birthday and was practicing it most of the weekend... swoon!
I love his ukulele; it looks like it has a henna tattoo!

We started Sunday off with our usual bowling routine... I bowled a 199!! WHAT??? 4 strikes in a row?? Don't believe me? Here's proof. ;)

To end our day Sunday, we headed out to the country to enjoy the holiday with my sister and some amazing friends!

I was in charge of the red, white, and blue margaritas... but you know me, I had to lighten it up and make them my own! So instead of buying strawberry puree, margarita ingredients, and blue curaco, I made them "skinny"! I bought fresh strawberries, hulled them, and put them in a container with a little bit of sugar sprinkled over them. The next morning, they had developed their own simple syrup... into the blender they go! I also bought Skinnygirl Margarita to save on calories, then floated fresh blueberries on the top... YUM!

Since it was out in the country, we got to shoot off our own fireworks without worrying about getting into trouble! It was a BLAST! I was looking forward to getting some cool firework shots with my awesome camera, but like I said earlier, it just didn't happen! But here are a couple okay shots I did snap in the beginning.

We had an AWESOME weekend and David had an amazing birthday. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives to celebrate with!

Now it's time to enjoy San Francisco!! I am typing this post from our hotel room... we arrived here around 11:00 PM, so I really should be heading to bed! I am excited, though, this place has a sweeeet fitness center so I can keep up with my workouts!

Oh, and guess where our first meal in San Francisco was (mostly because not much else was open)?

I wonder how many more times I will have to eat there before the week's out!

Fitness Frustration

I came across this today on my new favorite site, Pinterest
Haha, I needed this truth today! I am trying soveryhard not to get frustrated with this weight loss thing. I am not focusing on a number on the scale... but I sure do wish I could see a difference there!

I have been working out with the personal trainer for about 4 weeks now. I realize a month isn't much time, but I have stayed in the exact same place on the scale the whole time. I know that I am building heavier muscle than the fat I am burning. I know that my clothes are fitting differently, even if the scale doesn't show it.

I am also counting calories and drinking tons of water. I already cook using fresh, healthy ingredients and lighten up recipes in every way I can. Is it too much to ask to see that scale dip just a little?? ;) I know it will happen soon, I am just READY!

Regardless, I FEEL GREAT! I worked out with the trainer four times this week, and I can feel my body getting stronger. Things I could barely do the first couple weeks are becoming easier, and I am PUMPED about it!

I get to tag along with D to San Francisco next week (business trip for him, fun for me!!), so I am a little bummed about missing out with the trainer. BUT the hotel does have a nice gym, so while my honey works I better MOVE! :)
